Preparation of recycled polyethylene terephthalate composite foams and their feasible evaluation for electronic packages

摘要
By proper formula of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (r-PET) and additives (i.e. chain extender, nucleating agent, antioxidant, blowing agent, antistatic agent, processing aid, and impact modifier), a r-PET composite foaming sheet with high crystallization temperature (T-c; 217 degrees C), good flexural strength (623 Kgf/cm(2)), great tensile strength (506 Kgf/cm(2)), high melting temperature (T-m; 245 degrees C), good flexural modulus (22,881 Kgf/cm(2)), moderate surface electric resistance (8.6 x 10(11)Omega/sq.), low density (0.85 g/cm(3)), small average cell size (160 mu m), and high notched Izod impact strength (155 J/m) has been successfully prepared with thermochemical extrusion foaming process. To evaluate the feasibility for electronic package, furthermore, we have also manufactured the prototype of electronic package and passed the falling examination at 1 m, proving that it is a potential microcellular cushion composite with excellent physical characteristics.
