Consolidation of soil layers with impeded boundaries under time-dependent loadings

摘要：
Based on Terzaghi's one-dimensional consolidation theory, by the method of Laplace Transform, this paper studies the variation of effective stress ratio in layered saturated soils with impeded boundaries under time-dependent loading and the solution is presented. Influences of different kinds of cyclic loadings and impeded boundaries conditions are discussed. Useful illustrations are given considering several common time-dependent loadings through numerical inversion of Laplace Transform. Comparison with average method shows results from the method illustrated is more accurate.
