摘要
In the last decades, the incidence of cesarean sections has increased significantly, resulting in the occurrence of a variety of diseases correlated with the uterine scar [1]. In the present work, we conceived a review based on the published literature in order to establish the prevalence of the development of uterine niche and the risk factors. The risk factors identified in the niche occurrence were divided in 4 categories: those related to the hysterography technique, site of the incision at the inferior segment level, the healing process of the scar and other factors. The prevalence of the scar defect fluctuated between 28 and 84% [7]. The prevalence of the niche occurrence varied depending on the detection method, the criteria that were used to define a niche and the study population. The risk factors may be classified in four main categories, which can be useful for further researches. The major symptom associated with a niche was the postmenstrual spotting. [6]
