摘要
Increasing globalization has resulted in the ability of education to develop scientific ability and literacy among students essential to solve individual and community problems. Students' scientific literacy in Indonesia as examined by the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) for the period 2000 to 2015 has been shown to be low. One way of resolving the low ability of students in terms of science literacy is to use innovative learning, such as developing good learning resources. One of the learning resources that could potentially improve students' scientific literacy skills is inquiry-based learning, which encourages investigative ability. Such a module can be applied to thermochemistry material, which is considered difficult by students. This study considers Brebes District, employing PAMER data on the 2017 National Examination. The aim of the research was to develop an inquiry-based module to improve literacy in science with regard to thermochemical material, i.e., research and development (R&D). The data were derived from an observation sheet containing indicators. The data were then converted to percentage form for each indicator. The results of the research aimed to produce a product in the form of an inquiry-based module to improve science literacy with regard to thermochemistry, developing a validated model. Based on the validation criteria, a total of 20 subcomponents were identified. The average Aiken validity (V) index of the 20 subcomponents is 0.94, indicating that the module is appropriate for use.
