A new curve-fitting method based on the least-squares theory is introduced. In the present paper, a new shape function is developed as a linear interpolating function of both MLS (moving least squares approximating) and RBF (radial basis function interpolating) and is regularized by a control parameter a, which takes different values in the domain [0,1]. Based on the proposed shape function, the approximate curve has some advantages, such as high accuracy and high smoothness. The experiment shows that this method obtains better fitting effect.
