摘要
This paper is driven primarily by the lack of standardization in the area of event processing. The paper identifies general requirements for Event Processing Network (EPN) models. These requirements encompass the possibility to describe events in the real world, to establish temporal and causal relationships among the events, to aggregate the events, to organize the events into a hierarchy, to categorize the events into simple and complex, to create a model in an easy and simple way and to use that model on-the-fly. Finally, the paper assesses how existing EPN models fulfil the identified requirements on the example of the Business Event Modeling Notation (BEMN) model.
