摘要
Aim The study addresses the question of whether Generation Y nurses (1981-1995) have different expectations of the leadership behavior of their superiors than Nurses X (1966-1980) and Baby Boomers (1956-1965). In addition, it was investigated which leadership behaviors station managers and nursing directors deem to be suitable for generation Y and whether these assumptions differ from the view of generation Y. Method As part of a quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study with the MLQ 5X-Short survey tool, executives of the strategic nursing management (nursing directors) and operative management (ward management) as well as health and nursing staff were surveyed. Conclusion Transformational leadership is suitable for leading generation Y employees due to the multiple proven positive effects on motivation, commitment and job satisfaction.
