The Future of Classical Studies in a Globalised World

The paper discusses the future of classical studies in the time of globalisation. It first analyses the differences between classical studies and world literature studies, especially methodological differences between both disciplines. Examples from papyrology and classical commentaries are discussed. The second part considers the future of classical studies, discussing those aspects of the discipline which are aligned with global literary studies - comparative approach, oral theory, network theory, and reception theory.
