PRECARIAT AND PROSPECTS FOR CHANGES IN RUSSIAN SOCIETY SOCIAL STRUCTURE

The article discusses main provisions of the new book by Z.T. Toshchenko "Precariat: from protoclass to new class" and gives it a high assessment. It is noted that, as shown in this book, the processes of precarization, developing rapidly in Russian society, have affected by now a significant portion of the country's population. The book also provides an estimate of the degree of heterogeneity of the precariat in the Russian context, and also describes its main subgroups. In discussing main provisions of the book, the article introduces some corrections to the possible composition of the precariat and the set of its subgroups. It is also noted that the formation of precariat raises the question of a possible change in the very grounds (criteria) for distinguishing classes in Russian society, and the nature of employment and degree of social security. A scheme of a possible 5-class structure of Russian society using an approach is offered.
