Perceptions about the competences of future mathematics teachers in secondary education

摘要
The replacement of the former Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude by the Master Degree in Teacher Training aimed at improving the quality of the initial education of future teachers in secondary education. Available research reveals how the reforms have not fully achieved their purpose. In this paper, we present a study aiming at assessing the perception about the level of development and attainment of teaching competences during the Master Degree in Teacher Training in the mathematics speciality. The study consisted on an online survey conducted by 95 student teachers, 29 graduate teachers, 95 teacher educators, and 96 mentors from different universities and secondary schools in Spain. The results indicate that the level of development and attainment perceived by the four sample groups is low in all analysed competences.
