The practical teaching is a significant way to achieving the goal of talent cultivation in colleges and universities. As an eminently practical industry, tourism sector requires the management personnel should hold the higher practical abilities and comprehensive qualities. At present, the separation of teaching and practice is regarded as the ubiquitous dilemma in China's higher education of tourism management. The provincial colleges are the cultivation base for practical personnel rather than for research personnel, which differing from the comprehensive universities and higher vocational colleges, are more in need of exploring and constructing a set of practical teaching system with its own characteristics. This article analyzed the current issues and problems of the practical teaching in China's higher education of tourism management, as well as the relevant researches on the practical teaching system. It probed into the construction of practical teaching system in the provincial colleges and universities from the aspects of fundamental connotation, purpose, concrete measure and management, etc. The results indicated that the practical teaching system of tourism management in the provincial colleges is composed of teaching purpose, implementation approach and teaching administration. The purpose of practical teaching in the provincial colleges is to cultivate and improve the students' practical operation skills, task abilities, comprehensive qualities and innovation spirits, which can enhance their abilities to adapt to the social needs, but also sustainable growth ability. The implementation approach of practical teaching system consists of demonstration teaching, situational teaching, software teaching, case study, inquiry teaching, internship, professional practice and social activity, etc. The teaching administration includes strengthening the team construction of 'double professionally-titled' teachers and the construction of teaching practical bases inside and outside college, as well as improving the practical teaching administration mechanism and evaluation of innovative practice teaching, etc.
