Damping of Alfven waves in the solar corona

摘要
Collisional damping of the Alfven waves propagating away from the Sun in the solar corona is considered. It is shown that the damping is maximal in a regions where the wave frequency is approximately equal to the frequency of ion-ion collisions. The optical depth for the Alfven waves with the periods about 5 min is of order of unity in the conditions of typical quiet corona. The spatial distribution of the Alfven coronal heating source is discussed. It is shown, that heating source has a maximum at heliocentric distances about 1.5R(S) ( R-S is the radius of the Sun), and the typical width of the energy release localization is of order of 0.1R(S).
