摘要：
This paper presents the results from three research studies in the area of assistive technology for persons with mental retardation. Focus will be on communication devices in the telecommunication field. The methods used are questionnaires and interviews and data are collected from different sources and by different techniques. The results will be highlighted in relation to the concepts participation in society and empowerment.
