This article presents a contrastive analysis of the lexical variation of the verbal phrases shared by Colombia and Spain. This is a study of diatopic variation, based on a corpus of 2000 verb phrases used in Colombia, compiled in a database with more than 37000 fixed verb constructions from Spanish, created by the FRASYTRAM project of the University of Alicante. Throughout the analysis, we will highlight, on the one hand, the consistency of the lexical variation patterns of general Spanish in a series of diatopic verb phrases and, on the other, the characteristics of the verbal phrases of Colombia, as a reflection of linguistic reality (Spanish of America and indigenous languages) and cultural of the continent. In addition to developing descriptive studies on diatopic phraseological variation,The FRASYTRAM project seeks to have practical application in the fields of translation and language teaching.
