摘要
Abstract Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are integral parts of definitive and adjuvant therapy in the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The outcome of therapy is essentially dependent on selection and dosage of chemotherapeutical substances and on the other hand on the radiotherapeutical setting concerning fractionation, time of therapy and technical aspects. Immunotherapeutical substances have an increasing role in the therapy of HNSCC as well as particle therapy is investigated as part of radiotherapy in actual studies. Further challenges relate to treatment of HPV-induced tumors with regard to their differences in tumor biology and consecutively better prognosis.
