Comments on certain Maxwell-like equations

A set of Maxwell-like equations consists of eight coupled first-order partial differential equations for six field variables: the electric-like and the magnetic-like components. In this article we present a simple way of consistently incorporating two new field variables to this set: The Lagrangian density of the system is written in terms of eight field variables, from which the equations of motion are obtained. We also briefly discuss the quantized version of the corresponding free-field theory.
