Improved design of waveguide slot array applicators for microwave heating

摘要
In this paper we consider the problem of optimizing the design procedure of a waveguide slot array applicator radiating a generic dielectric slab. To this end, we use a commercial simulation code to obtain empirical curves describing the behaviour of a single slot radiating on a dielectric slab with a given complex permittivity. Some results regarding a slot linear array applicator designed by using the calculated empirical curves are presented. A significant improvement in efficiency is shown for the slot linear array applicator with respect to a similar applicator designed by using a standard approximate analytical method.
