The Implementation of the Coastal Observatory in Santa Catarina State - South Brazil

The proposal of creation of the Coastal Observatory is going to the encounter to dinamize the interfaces that the Federal Public Ministery service maintains with the participative processes foreseen in the National Plan of Coastal Management. The goal would be the one of concentrating efforts in the consolidation of the strategic and programmatic actions of the Coastal Management elaborated with the authentic participation of the society. It would be available in beginning, conditions to put in practice the plans and programs of integrated coastal management tend in view the contention of the destructive dynamics in course as well as the promotion of a really anticipative-preventive management style from now on. It is intended like this to organize and to coordinate a net of technician-scientific that support the Federal Public Ministery, in order to promote an democratic-participative administration style related to the appropriation of the existent environmental resources in the coastal area and the consequent invigoration of the environmental citizenship, especially in the coastal area of Santa Catarina State. In this sense it were collected and organized information on the problems and social and environmental conflicts, besides experiences well happened of integrated and participative management of environmental resources in the coastal area of Santa Catarina with the purpose of preparing half-yearly and annual reports and at the same time to strengthen an institutional and academically net of research.
