Preparation of Sm10.2Fe85.8Nb4 nitride-based permanent magnet by HDDR process

摘要
Sm10.2Fe85.8Nb4 as-cast alloy was HDDR (hydrogenation disproportionation desorption recombination) treated and then nitrided. Disproportionation-recombination was performed at 770-810 degrees C, and nitriding at 470-480 degrees C. Coercivities of up to 520 kA/m were attained. The combination of the Nb addition, which avoids homogenisation treatments, and HDDR, which avoids post-nitriding milling, could offer particular advantages with respect to the processing of this material.
