THE INTERNAL MIGRATIONS OF THE FOREIGNERS IN SPAIN: RECENT SPATIAL DYNAMICS UNDER THE IMPACT OF THE CRISIS

The article analyses foreign population's internal migration pattern changes due to the effect of the economic crisis. Estadistica de Variaciones Residenciales (Residential Variations Statistics) flow data are used to this end. Main results shows that: 1) due to the crisis, both absolute and relative foreign internal migration figures have significantly decreased; 2) there are remarkable differences among foreign citizen groups both in terms of internal migration rates and regarding the importance of the decline; and 3) geographical patterns have been deeply modified, as some of the provinces that attracted internal migrants before the crisis now expel them, and vice versa.
