摘要
I assert that environmental education and environmental issues are clearly affected by the biographical and intergenerational relationships and geographical (including cultural) histories that shape and imbue settings with their meaning. Certainly such a claim gives weight to an argument for research which is essentially contextual. Additionally, any adequate approach to environmental education research must recognise history as socially and culturally constructed. What follows is a discussion of issues pertinent to the relationship between history and environmental education research ultimately contending that an historical perspective must be considered within environmental education research.
