The Ridiculous in the entremes El rufian viudo by Miguel de Cervantes

This article studies seventeenth-century vision of the comic genre present in Miguel de Cervantes's entremes El rufian viudo, with particular attention to the character of Trampagos. The analysis centers on the physical and moral deformation of characters that Emanuele Tesauro outlines in his Tratado de los ridiculos. Through the lenses of Tesauro, this approach will demonstrate that Trampago's ridiculousness contributes to the context of Cervantes's entremes.
