More than 50 years passed after North Atlantic Treaty was signed on 4 April 1949 by 12 countries including France, United Kingdom and United States which established North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO. NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance, constitutes a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party. As a combined military organization, NATO's military forces are ruled by member military officials on a ratio of the members' contribution. NATO has its own evaluation system. The NATO headquarters SACEUR (Supreme Allied Commander of Europe) inspects the military units regularly and gives its approval by defining the unit 'operative' if there's no problem. This evaluation system is similar to quality management systems and its main objective is to ensure the quality and standardization of military units. In this paper, ISO 9000, which is the most preferred quality system, and its procedures was compared with the NATO Tactical Evaluation for air unit systems and procedures. Military way and use of quality management was evaluated.
