An Online Web Shopping Method Using Game Engine and Offline Market View

摘要
Existing online shopping malls are usually implemented with the product lists that consist of 2D images, specifications, and some explanation or recommendation. A purchase activity should be done by clicking the pages in the shopping mall or searching with alreadyknown information about the product. This paper deals with a design and implementation of the online shopping mall, HCM, based on images of actual product shelves and a game engine. In particular, we focus on the implementation techniques of virtual stores where main shopping activities are taking place. The virtual store simulates a real offline shopping mall using realistic images of shopping shelves and products. We use a game engine to enable a character representing a buyer to browse on the store as like on a roleplaying game stage. We adopted the quarter view for buyer's viewpoint because it expresses the characters and its surrounding well while using fixed viewpoints. The virtual store consists of several view pages that correspond to product shelves, products, and product or promotion information. Thus, consumers are able to enjoy the pleasure of shopping through the realistic shopping activities and the virtual store can enhance the consumer loyalty to the store.
