摘要：
With the rapid development of technologies such as cloud computing, Internet of Things, and mobile Internet, the types and scale of data have grown at an unprecedented rate. How to manage and utilize big data has become a hot research topic. This article describes the origins, definitions, and characteristics of big data. On this basis, the significance of the research of big data and the application of big data in the medical field are discussed. The advantages of application of big data in the medical industry are as follows. For a start, cloud computing can realize massive medical data storage. In addition, it has powerful data processing capabilities. Moreover, disease prediction based on data analysis is forward-looking and time-sensitive. It will surely take the lead in future competition and maintain thriving development potential.
