Effect of whole-pea flour and a protein-rich fraction as repellents against stored-product insects

Studies conducted to test the repellency of pea (Pisum sativum L.) products against the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), the rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae (L.) and the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) showed that paddy grains treated with a protein-rich fraction derived from peas var. Bonneville at 1% concentration were repellent to adults. Tribolium castaneum was repelled most quickly followed by S. oryzae and R. dominica. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
