Active study is important for the undergraduates majoring in aero electrical engineering. In order to develop their engineering design capacity and system conception, a project-based learning strategy which mainly contains a distance measurement project usually appeared in aircraft is proposed, and then the task decomposition method aiming to decrease the complexity is given. Through a modular designing and debugging way, the students will progressively grasp the knowledge such as the power converter, microcontroller, sine wave generator, signal conditioner, data acquisition, sensor design, motor driving, communication and electric display, etc., and the students will be motivated to learn the skills such as circuit simulation, signal processing, soft/hardware debugging method and writing. The practice result indicates that the project-based teaching, which is in accordance with the target of Large-scale Engineering, is in effective to educate the students for integrated skills and to improve their learning motivation.
