Constructing Chinese Modern Vocational Education System: Connotation and Principles

With the transformation of China's economic development, to establish a modern vocational system has become one of the special programs within the framework of the National Tenth Fifth-year Plan. The modern vocational education system with Chinese characteristics, also the goal of vocational education reform for the next few years, calls for a top-level design of the country. China's modern vocational education system is to be established on the basis of eight principles: obeying laws, thinking systematically, meeting the needs, positioning accurately, designing holistically, constructing systems, guiding accordingly, and implementing step by step. This paper defines the connotation of modern vocational education system, discusses the necessity and importance of establishing the system, explores the fundamental principles of constructing the system, and finally brings to attention some issues which should be addressed at present.
