摘要
Given the high unemployment rate and lack of specific information about the true productivity of young workers, it is reasonable to expect that discrimination might be present early in an individual's career. As a work record is established and productivity information is improved, it becomes more difficult for employers to discriminate. However, the results in this article show that the effects of discrimination early in a career impacts on job quality and that these consequences persist even after the initial discrimination has been eliminated. Therefore, even if discrimination itself is not a long-run phenomenon, the effects of such behavior can have persistent effects on job quality.
