Injection polices optimization for polymer flooding is a class of optimal control problem for distributed parameter systems. According to the characters of injection schedule for polymer flooding, a control vector parameterization with time parameters is proposed in this paper. Time nodes are parameterized by using this method, and the parameterized control can approximate a piecewise continuous function. The gradients of the performance index to the parameters can be derived by optimal control theory, and then the optimal parameters can be solved by nonlinear programming. The optimal injection strategy is obtained for an experimental model of polymer flooding. The results show the efficiency of this parameterization method for solving this kind of problem.
