UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COLLABORATION IN OPEN INNOVATION

Based on existing models, the article presents the designed framework (as an ontology) to diagnose, evaluate the university-industry collaboration state. The proposed approach is based on the knowledge transfer processes developed by universities with their industrial or business partners in order to increase both their contributions, and influence to the socio-economic development at the local/regional level. The preliminary research results have been focusing on the university-industry collaboration ontology design and development (with five dimensions). The ontology is considered well defined because 3 cases of university-industry collaborations were done in order to test and validate the model and associated methodology. The proposed approach for the university-industry collaboration is considered an effective support of the decision-making process when establishing a contract, project, or partnership with industrial or business organizations.
