Discrimination due to sexual orientation or gender identity in detention centers of the Colombian State

The objective of this article is to identify the most frequent human rights violations perpetrated against inmates belonging to the LGBT community by prison staff At the same time, explain in accordance with the provisions of national and international legislation, the responsibility of the State for violations against detainees due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, the obligation of detention centers as responsible for the execution of the penalty of ensuring a treatment based on human dignity with a human rights perspective. Consequently, the aim is to provide certain recommendations based on prison treatment standards.
