A discussion covers development of high-burnup light nuclear fuels; fuel conduct accompanying high bumup; improvement and development of coating pipe and fuel pellets; change of fuel pellet thermal characteristics; PCI damage; safety studies related to high burnup fuels, including loss of coolant accident, reactivity initiated accident, and study of severe accidents; and use of plutonium in LWR.
