Tribology for engines and transmissions

The special issue of the Tribology International journal focuses on tribology for engines and transmissions. The issue includes 13 papers that are related to various problems and solutions in the area of engines and transmissions. These papers deal with experimental work and theoretical models. These papers also discuss the modeling, film thickness, and friction in elastohydrodynamic contacts and topographical aspects, such as roughness and surface texturing protection of surfaces through the use of greases, liquid lubricants, and various coatings, along with significant corrosion aspects of these coatings and surfaces. Some of the papers also focus on practical aspects of the research, dealing directly with applications, such as oil-lubricated bearings, gas bearings, gears, and piston rings. These papers cover a wide variety of tribology aspects, solutions, experimental, and theoretical methods and techniques that leads to a better understanding of tribology of engines and transmissions.
