Supercurrent transport across [001] twist grain boundaries in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ bicrystals

A series of 35 bulk Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta (Bi2212) bicrystals containing a single high-quality [001] twist grain boundary was prepared in order to investigate the supercurrent transport mechanism in textured Pi-based superconducting tape. The misorientation angles of the bicrystals ranged from 0 to 180 degrees. These twist grain boundaries carried critical current as high as their constituent single crystals, regardless of the misorientation angle.
