The case for iron chelation and/or antioxidant therapy in Alzheimer's disease

摘要：
Iron is involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease by multiple mechanisms. We discuss the role of iron in catalysis of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, protein physical chemistry, and inflammation. Strategies to deal with iron and its effects have a place in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Therapies utilizing these strategies include iron chelators and antioxidants.
