Experimental and Simulation Investigation in Fractal Dimension of Supersonic Combustion

摘要
To investigate the relationship among the fractal dimension, the combustion degree, and the stability of flame in supersonic combustion, photos of OH.radicals spontaneity radiation were taken and the Large Eddy Simulation was used to calculate supersonic hydrogen combustion. As cavity is the flame holder in strongly turbulent supersonic combustion, different structural cavities were studied via experiments and simulations. Then nonlinear method of fractal was used to analyze the flow structure in cavity. The calculation results are consistent with experiments: high fractal dimension of flame goes along with mixing fuel sufficiently, combusting drastically, and holding flame easily.
