Catalytic spectrophotometric determination of trace Ag (I) using triton X-100 as sensitizer

摘要
A new catalytic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace Ag(I) was developed. The method was based on the oxidation of bromocresol green (BG) by sodium persulfate in the presence of alpha, alpha'-bipy as an activator and Triton X-100 as sensitizer. The mechanism of related reaction was discussed. Because of the addition of Triton X-100, the sensitivity raised 5 times. The linear range of determination is 0.2 similar to 4.0 (mu g/L. The detection limit is 6 x 10(-11) g/mL, and the relative standard deviation is 1.1% (n = 11). The method has been used for the determination of Ag(I) in AgCl solution and photographical paper.
