摘要
Anew diatom species, Gomphonema megalobrebissonii sp. nov., is described from the sediments of Lake Glubokoe, European Russia. Based on morphological observations, this taxon is part of the G. acuminatum species complex and appears most closely related to G. coronatum Ehrenberg. Both species possess roughly punctate striae, made more complicated by the presence of "stubs" on the internal side of vimines, but differ in general outline of the valve general contour. Valves of G. megalobrebissonii are less constricted than those in G. coronatum, and have no distinct differentiation into apiculus and shoulders at the head pole.
