The interactionist triangle An attempt at integrating the interactionist sociology of deviance

Labeling processes have become part of the sociology of deviance's established canon. Most texts in the field have, however, only discussed parts of this process: they have either analyzed the labeling of persons by persons, the fleshing-out of rules in interactions or identity construction through the use of justifications. The present work attempts to integrate these aspects in what will be called an "interactionist triangle" which opens paths for labels to travel between labeler and labelee as well as from and to rules and similar vocabularies.
