摘要
In light of pervasive movements in the western world's political landscape that aim to restore national sovereignty -a goal that coincides, in some respects, with the demands of political parties that have been labelled "populist"- this essay seeks to examine the validity of these proposals under the current state of capitalism. This paper first evaluates the specific features of this productive mode in its current evolutionary stage, as well as the role of financial capital in its configuration, as based upon Marx's socioeconomic analyses. With these results, this essay confronts the imbalance between the scope of national policy initiatives and the effective power of an economy that operates outside of all territorial control. The ultimate objective is to underscore the need for a new definition of politics that can adjust to the increasingly globalized nature of today's capitalism.
