A Rule-Based Algorithm for Extracting Medical Data from Text

摘要
Nowadays, the electronic medical record (EMR) systems have been widely utilized in the hospitals. More and more medical data are recorded in the EMR text. It is obviously, the extracted medical data in the EMR texts are very meaningful to the medical research. In this research, a modified rules based method is introduced. The presented new method combines the regular expression, strings similarity with manual rules. In order to test the efficiency of the system, three kinds of methods have been tested. The value of precision is 93% and the value of recall is 89%, both two values are the highest among the three methods. The overall experimental results have proved that the examining data can be extracted well by using the modified rules based method.
