摘要
Bunches of flowers, wreaths and garlands, like symbols of immortality, were in the old times a sign of glory and recognition which was awarded to those who excelled at games, arts, war or keeping peace; and, like an everlasting symbol, for identical reasons, they have been used in the funeral rites for as far back as man can remember. Such vegetable ornaments, due to their erotic connotations, have had to add are still having an important role no only in love affairs, but also in wedding ceremonies; and as for literary creation, the popular as well as the educated, their presence has been common until today with both the love and funeral meaning that we have already show, especially in the writings of Federico Garcia Lorca, an author who uses these images constantly in order to show in a clear way the two main and obsessive themes in his work: on the one side love, hope and joy; on the other side grief, frustration and death.
