The effect of CeO2 on the electric properties of TiO2 based capacitor-varistor multi-function ceramics

摘要
The effect Of CeO2 on Nb-doped-TiO2 based capacitor-varistors was investigated and analyzed by varistor and dielectric measurements. It was found that the CeO2 dopant had a significant effect on the varistor properties and dielectric properties of Nb-doped-TiO2 based capacitor-varistors ceramics sintered at 1350degreesC because of the formation of a phase of perrierite containing cerium, silicon and titanium at the grain boundaries. An optimal composition dopant with 0.4 mol% CeO2 exhibited a low breakdown voltage of 15.84 V/mm, a nonlinear coefficient of 4.62. An ultrahigh relative dielectric constant (epsilon(gamma) = 158 600) as well as relatively low loss (tg delta = 0.32) were found in room temperature.
