摘要：
A small sampling of current antibiotic arsenal was carried out. Antimicrobials are now the third largest therapeutic class in pharmaceuticals R&D. Antibiotic resistance has become a global pandemic that threatens human beings ability to combat even the most superficial infections. The basic research, coupled with significantly more prudent use of existing drugs, will prolong the life of antibiotic arsenal.
