Present State of Research Regarding University Choice and Attractiveness of the Study Area

The purpose of this paper is to present the present state, trends and focus of research regarding the factors that influence the decision making process in choosing a university in which a potential student will study. The study has been accomplished using the methodology of bibliographic study and qualitative research, using various secondary sources. The study focuses on the analysis of the present state of research concentrated on Germany's area and constitutes the basis of a comparative management research Romania-Germany. 'From various German studies it is shown that for most of the students the most important factor in choosing their university is represented by the study specialization. Also the reputation of the university, the high quality of teaching methods and the excellent career opportunities play an important role in taking this decision. (C) 2013 The Authors.
