Russian-Czech interferences in the Czech speech of the Russian-speaking inhabitants of Prague The lexicological perspective

This paper presents the preliminary results of the grant project "Second Language Acquisition of Russian Speakers in Czech-speaking vs. German-speaking Surroundings". Primary attention is paid to the theory and the practical analysis of interferences in the field of lexis. Combining the data of comparative Russian-Czech studies with the results of field research in Prague, we are able to specify real interferences and predict potential ones. The study provides a deeper insight into the nature of language processes in the border area between two closely related languages, as well as assisting in identifying what percentage of interlanguage transfer can be found in the total number of mistakes. The research is supplemented with a sociolinguistic profile of the Russian diaspora in the Czech Republic.
