Aimed at the application in the front-end receiver of digital cellular communication service a new compact parallel-coupled high-temperature superconducting microstrip bandpass filter is realized. S-parameter measurements show very encouraging frequency characteristics of the filter. To estimate the power handling capability of the filter, third-order intermodulation distortion was measured and found to be the best that was ever reported. A suggestion to use the same design in 0.5% FBW applications is offered through sensitivity analysis. (c) 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
