摘要：
A new orthogonal system of generalized Laguerre polynomials is introduced. Some approximation results are established. As an example of applications, a mixed spherical harmonic-generalized Laguerre spectral scheme for the nonlinear partial differential equation in three dimensional exterior domain is proposed. Its convergence is proved.
