摘要
Engine is the heart and soul of a car. This paper presents the tuning of a bike engine to enhance its performance to be used for a formula style car. To meet the design specifications KTM Duke 390 engine has been identified because of its high power and torque generation. Engine control unit of KTM Duke 390 is enhanced to use it for the designed car; as it was not able to incorporate with the car specifications and designing; by addition of a piggyback engine control unit. This necessitates the delay of ignition timings and fuel injection in engine and its throttle position measurement. The testing of the designed car for its engine performance has been carried out through dynamometer test. Calibration of ignition time and fuel injection has been carried out through repeated experiment by trial and error method. The results shows performance of the engine improves by an addition of piggyback engine control unit in addition to stock engine control unit in terms of power and torque produced. Additional safety features have been incorporated for the safety of both the driver and the car.
